If you never played craps before you might think that it is a very complicated game. All of the possible bets marked out on the craps table sure make it seem like you need to know a lot to enjoy it. This is not true. By learning about the most basic bets you can play as well as anyone else around the craps table. This game is a game of chance so you don’t have to feel pressured to improve your skills.

How to Play Craps

Craps is played with two dice and you can be the Shooter and roll them or simply bet on the roll itself. The craps table has all of the possible bets marked on it and you will indicate with your playing chips what bet you’ll be making. In a land-based casino this procedure might feel a bit intimidating so if you just started learning craps you should stick to the Pass Line bet till you learn more about your options. Everyone place their bets and then the Shooter throws the dice with one hand to reveal the result.

The first roll is called the Come Out Roll and if you placed the Pass Line bet you want to see a 7 or 11 as this makes you an immediate winner. If 2, 3 or 12 shows up you have a craps which means that you lost. Any other number establishes a Point. The following rolls will have to produce a Point before 7 for you to win.

The Craps Bets

Most players stick to the Pass Line bet but there are many bets to be made in craps. The truth is that many of them aren’t worth the try because the odds are terrible. The Come Bet is pretty much the same as the Pass Line with the difference that it is made after a Point has been set. You will find the opposites of the Pass Line and Come bets and these are called the Don’t Pass Line bet and the Don’t Come bet. In these bet you reverse the order meaning that you win if the dice show 2 or 3 and you lose by 7 and 11. In these bets number 12 creates a tie between the player and the casino.

Playing Craps Online

In land-based casinos it is not so popular to play on the Don’t bets (the reversed bets) since you are wishing on a result which is the opposite of most of the other players’ bets. When you play online you have many more opportunities of playing exactly as you wish without pressure. You can also play for free which is an excellent way to practise the basic bets and craps rules.
